Change is good...keep your interest in your personal practice by challenging yourself and being curious. Become the observer and take note of your abilities, limitations and...

Donna's approach to yoga is step-wise, starting with baby steps. She focusses on the benefits of developing a personal practice of the Hatha Yoga style and encourages her students to find the time and space to develop their own daily practice, five minutes or for 60 minutes.

Over ten years ago Donna experienced a serious sport injury which finally manifested as chronic pain. Almost in desperation, after completing a round of medical practitioners, she turned to yoga for relief. The infrequent classes provided very short term relief and it was not until attending a full-day session for beginners that Donna realized that once-a-week was not enough to correct a problem 10 years in the making. Practicing the poses and counter poses under the watchful eyes of Karuna and Paul Erickson gave her the confidence to try a few poses at home with the help from many books and eventually to enroll in a teacher training program, not to become a yoga teacher, but to learn more about yoga, especially about the technical aspects of body mechanics. After one six-day session with Karuna and Paul, accompanied by the talented Ally Bogard, Donna was hooked and her learning began in earnest....and the chronic pain disappeared!

Focusing on ahimsa, the practice of non-violence to all of nature's life forms, Donna emphasizes personal safety with correct alignment and balance of both body and mind through strengthening asanas (practices), savasana (relaxation) and meditation. Donna is available for private or small group sessions or consultations in the South Okanagan.

Donna would like to acknowledge yoga teachers Karuna Erickson, Paul Erickson and Ally Bogard for their outstanding ability to inspire students in the teaching of all aspects of yoga theory and practice, their seemingly unlimited well of knowlege, their high level of professionalism and their dedication all of which are reflected in their wholehearted embracing of yogic principals.

In addition to completing the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification program, Donna has completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Adult Education at the University of Fraser Valley and the Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education post-graduate program at the University of Victoria.
